Soroptimist International of Great Britain and Ireland welcomes you to our website. These are our terms and conditions for use of the website.

These terms and conditions apply whenever you access the SIGBI website, on whatever device. By using the SIGBI website, you are deemed to have accepted these conditions.

Any changes we make to the terms and conditions will be reflected on this page. We may also e-mail registered club website officers if these changes are significant.

Copyright Notice

Use of Material on the SIGBI Website

For the purposes of this agreement, "material" means material including, without limitation, text, video, graphics and sound material, published on the SIGBI website, whether copyright of Soroptimist International of Great Britain and Ireland or a third party.

These files are provided for the non-profit use of Soroptimists worldwide. You may download and print quotations or excerpts from these files, or use them in their entirety, for the advancement of Soroptimist aims, or for personal non-commercial use, but the meaning of the information should not be changed or modified in any way. No fee may be charged for any material in these files, or for access to these files.

Any reproduction of all or part of these files for commercial use is strictly prohibited, unless Soroptimist International of Great Britain and Ireland or the copyright owner has granted their prior written consent.

You must not reproduce any part of the SIGBI website or the material or transmit it to or store it in any other website or disseminate any part of the material in any other form, unless we have indicated that you may do so.

Submitting Material to the Website

Submitting photographs or other graphical material

When you send photographs or other graphical material to us you agree that you have taken the photograph you have sent to us, or you have permission from or are authorised by the owner of the photograph to send it to us. You are granting us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to publish or otherwise use the photograph in any way and at any time we want on the SIGBI website.

Selected material will be published at our discretion and you will not be paid, even if your material is published.

We may cut, edit, crop or arrange your photograph or graphics as we think fit to appear on the SIGBI website, and we may remove your photograph or graphics at any time. We reserve the right to edit or delete any comments you send with the image.

On request, your name will be published alongside your photograph or graphics.

IMPORTANT: You or the owner of the photograph still own the copyright and are free to republish the photograph wherever you or the owner wish and in whatever medium you or the owner want.

Submitting written material

Members of Soroptimist International or of certain related organisations may submit material for publication in various areas of the site, including the news pages and officers' messages and profiles. We accept no liability in respect of any material submitted by users and published by us and we are not responsible for its content and accuracy.

If you want to submit material to us for publication on the SIGBI website, you may do so on the following terms and conditions:

publication of any material you submit to us will be at our sole discretion. We reserve the right to make additions or deletions to the text or graphics prior to publication, or to refuse publication
you grant us a non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide licence to republish any material you submit to us in any format, including without limitation print and electronic format
you warrant to us that any material you submit to us is your own original work and that you own the copyright and any other relevant rights
you warrant that the material you submit is not obscene, offensive, defamatory of any person or otherwise illegal
you agree not to post material which is deliberately intended to upset other users
you acknowledge that any breach of these warranties may cause us damage or loss and you agree to indemnify us in full and permanently against any third party liabilities, claims, costs, loss or damage we incur as a result of publishing material you submit to us, including consequential losses.

Registration to use the SIGBI Clubs system

Using the SIGBI Clubs system to maintain club pages requires registration. By completing the initial registration form, you will be deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions. If you register with SIGBI Clubs, you should also read our privacy policy. This relates to our use of your contact details, including your agreement to receiving administrative e-mails from us relating to the update and maintenance of your club pages.

If you have registered with us and subsequently change name, address, phone number, e-mail address or any other contact information you provided, you should immediately update your details in the administration area of the SIGBI Clubs section.

When you register, you are registering as a personal user of the SIGBI website. Access to the administration area is via your e-mail address and password.

We allow you access to the administration area of the SIGBI Clubs section on the basis that:

your e-mail address and password are personal to you and may not be used by anyone else to access the administration area of the SIGBI Clubs section
you will not do anything which would assist anyone who is not a registered website officer to gain access to the administration area of the SIGBI Clubs section
you do not maliciously create additional registration accounts for the purpose of abusing the functionality of the site, or other users; nor do you seek to pass yourself off as another user
you comply with these terms and conditions.

If, for any reason, we believe that you have not complied with these requirements, we may, at our discretion, cancel your access to the SIGBI Clubs system immediately and without giving you any advance notice.

Your responsibilities

As club website officer it is your responsibility to ensure that you do not upload any abusive, offensive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-oriented, pornographic, or plagiarised material, or any other material that may violate any applicable laws or incite hatred towards any group. Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned. You agree that the overall clubs administrator has the right to remove, edit or move any material posted at any time should they see fit.

It is also your responsibility to ensure as far as possible that the material you upload reflects the official views of Soroptimist International, including the vision, core purpose and core values of the Programme Focus. If in any doubt as to the official Soroptimist position on any issue, please refer to "Where We Stand". This can be ordered from the SIGBI Shop, or downloaded in pdf format from the Soroptimist International website.

If you already have a website hosting, design or maintenance agreement with any other party when you register with us, it is your responsibility to cancel this arrangement at the appropriate time. We will not enter into negotiations with any third parties concerning club websites not hosted, designed or maintained by us.

You agree to be responsible for arranging payment of the one-off registration fee and annual maintenance fee for the use of the SIGBI Clubs system.

Termination of registration

If we wish to bring the agreement to an end, we will do so by e-mailing you at the address you have registered stating that the agreement has terminated. The agreement will terminate and your e-mail address and password will become invalid on the SIGBI website immediately.

Disclaimer of Liability

We give no warranties of any kind concerning the SIGBI website or the material. In particular, we do not warrant that the SIGBI website or any of its contents is virus free. You must take your own precautions in this respect as we accept no responsibility for any infection by virus or other contamination or by anything which has destructive properties.

Although we undertake to back-up the SIGBI Clubs section database regularly, we can accept no responsibility for loss of electronic material uploaded by website officers due to computer failure, virus attack or hacking.

Although we will do our best to provide constant, uninterrupted access to the SIGBI website, we do not guarantee this. We accept no responsibility or liability for any interruption or delay.

Material uploaded by our website team

To the extent permitted at law, we do not accept any responsibility for any statement in the material on this website. You must not rely on any statement we have published on the SIGBI website without first taking specialist professional advice. Nothing in the material is provided for any specific purpose or at the request of any particular person.

We will not be liable for any loss caused as a result of your doing, or not doing, anything as a result of viewing, reading or listening to the material or any part of it (except for death or personal injury attributable to our negligence and to the extent permitted at law).

Material uploaded by our clubs

The SIGBI Clubs section of this website contains information uploaded directly by website officers of individual clubs. While the overall clubs administrator will attempt to remove or edit any generally objectionable material as soon as possible, it is impossible to review every club page. Therefore, you acknowledge that all material on club pages expresses the views and opinions of the author and not Soroptimist International of Great Britain and Ireland, and hence we will not be held liable.

Material on other websites

You can access other sites via links from the SIGBI website. These sites are not under our control and we are not responsible in any way for any of their content, including that of Soroptimist websites that link to this website. Inclusion of links to other websites on this website does not imply endorsement or approval of the information offered.

Governing Law & Jurisdiction

This agreement is governed by English law and the parties agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

Variations

These terms may be varied from time to time, including but not limited to changes in annual fees to cover rises in costs or to pay for additional functionality. Please ensure that you review these terms and conditions regularly as you will be deemed to have accepted a variation if you continue to use the site after it has been posted.
