SI Tamworth Projects

Each Soroptimist International club identifies the needs of its community, then establishes specific projects to address these needs. All our projects relate to one or more of the six Programme Focus Areas: Economic and Social Development, Education, Environment, Health, Human Rights and the Status of Women, and International Goodwill and Understanding.

More information is available in the Our Work pages, where you can read more about the current Programme Focus aims and the Quadrennial Project, supported by all clubs in the Federation.

The projects listed below include some of the local and international issues we research and support in SI Tamworth:

Cecily's Fund

President Margaret presents Alison and Basil Eastwood with a cheque fro Cecily’s Fund

Cecily’s fund helps Zambian AIDS Orphans.

In August 2004 we raised money for this charity by holding a Jazz in the Park music event.

Later in the year many of our members attended the annual picnic at Woodstock where Madam President presented a cheque for £1310 to Alison Eastwood.

Two of our members – Anne North and Gwyneth Brown – were able to visit some of the children supported by Cecily’s fund.

Hearing dogs for the deaf

This was SI Tamworths main charity in 2004-2005.

At our International Night we were able to present them with a cheque for £3120. Various fund raising events throughout the year helped us to raise this total but our main event was a Food Around the World night in January.
