Our President's Message

Welcome to the website of SI St Austell & District 2008-2009. This year we will be celebrating 30 years since the club’s charter during which time we are proud to say that, as a measure of our success we have never had to “re-cycle” a President.
We still have many Charter members but are delighted that we continue to recruit new members each year. We have a current membership of 45. We will be hosting a Friendship w/e in November 21st to 23rd. As the only club in Cornwall and as a proud Cornishwoman I am so pleased that I will be representing the club as President this year.

We will be continuing our service to the community this year by supporting, local, National and International projects. Our main charity will be The Shelterbox Trust. This Charity, started in a garage in Cornwall is now a worldwide organisation providing shelter for displaced people in disaster areas wherever the need arises. It demonstrates once again what can be achieved with one man’s vision and the generosity of the people of this wonderful county.

Please come and enjoy a truly Cornish afternoon on August 2nd when we will be at Indian Queens Pit, an historic site in the ‘Clay Country’. There will be cream teas, the village band and fun for children and adults. The Lord Lieutenant, Lady Mary Holborow, has kindly agreed to open the event.

We meet on the first and third Thursdays of each month, except January and August at Tregorrick Park, the home of St Austell Rugby Club.
