SI St Andrews and District Projects

Each Soroptimist International club identifies the needs of its community, then establishes specific projects to address these needs. All our projects relate to one or more of the six Programme Focus Areas: Economic and Social Development, Education, Environment, Health, Human Rights and the Status of Women, and International Goodwill and Understanding.

More information is available in the Our Work pages, where you can read more about the current Programme Focus aims and the Quadrennial Project, supported by all clubs in the Federation.

The projects listed below include some of the local and international issues we research and support in SI St Andrews and District:

We Can Help the Environment!

Several club members are on the committee of the League of Friends of the hospital and the club provides support by providing Christmas Boxes, for those patients, who have no families.

Club members also run the bric a brac stall at the Annual Coffee Morning.

The club is also providing a tree to be planted in the garden of the hospital.

Rymonth

Club members maintain a small garden at Rymonth, for the benefit of residents.

Young Carers

Club members assist Young Carers, by acting as adult supervisors, on buses, when required

Club members are now working on a fortnightly rota until June. Two Soroptimists are on duty at the same time, with the Youth Worker, and are now involved in activities with the children, instead of being escorts on the bus.

Tools for Africa

Collections are made at regular intervals for unwanted tools, which are then taken to the centre near Inverbervie, where they are repaired, if necesary, then sent to Africa.

Haberdashery items are now also being collected.

Story /Sensory Sacks

Club members continue to produce story/sensory sacks in response to the specific needs of individual children.
