Our President's Message

Welcome to the web pages for SI Southend on Sea and District. We are an active club of business and professional women from Southend and the surrounding district. If you live or work in the Basildon, Canvey, Rayleigh, Thurrock or Southend area, this could be the club for you!

The club meets at 7.15pm on the third Monday of each month at Essex Golf Club, Garons Park, Eastern Avenue, Thorpe Bay. We have a business meeting to discuss our involvement in both local and national projects relating to service in the community. After the business, we enjoy a meal together, before listening to a speaker on a topical subject. Our speakers' talks are related to local, national or international areas of concern for Soroptimists - our Programme Action.

Each year, our President choses a charity as a focus for our local fund-raising activities. We have supported local groups working for charities like the Eastwood Ward at Southend Hospital, Fledglings and MIND. Last year we supported Fair Havens, our local hospice. This year we shall be supporting our local branch of NSPCC.

We are ALL busy women, so our level of involvement differs - some of us have more time than others to devote to Soroptimism, but the high level of interest in promoting the rights of women throughout the world is what keeps us together - and this year we are aiming to get EVERY member ACTIVE!
