Our President's Message

Welcome to the web pages of Soroptimist International of Runcorn, Frodsham and District. We hope you find them interesting.
Our club meets twice a month (but not in August).
Business and Programme Action meetings are held at Castle Park Arts Centre in Frodsham on the 1st Thursday of the month at 7.00pm
Social meetings (dinner and a guest speaker) are held at Runcorn Golf Club on the third Wednesday of most months 6.30pm for 7.00pm

Ours is not a large club but it is active and friendly. Programme Action (the name we give to our service and fundraising projects) is the main part of our activities. During our meetings we deal with club business and we take time to raise awareness of local, national and international concerns. We also plan which projects to support that we think will help meet these concerns. Projects can take the form of fundraising, lobbying or service. We are also a friendship group and we plan social events and outings that are purely for pleasure. During this year we will be supporting projects on a theme of ‘Education for All’. These will include local and international projects that give help to young children, young people and adults who live in economically challenging circumstances.

This year (2007 -2008) SI Runcorn, Frodsham and District is marking the 60th year since it was chartered in 1948. The club is very proud of the many hours of service given and the large amounts of money it has raised during the past 60 years. Another point of pride for the club is that one of our senior members will be marking her 50th year as a Soroptimist. With this in mind we plan to take every opportunity we can to mark this special year!

As president I feel honoured to have been chosen for this special year. My hope is, that this year the club will work hard to uphold the aims and objectives of Soroptimism, that we will develop active friendship links both at home and internationally and that we will raise awareness of the club in our district. BUT mostly, I hope that by the end of the year we will have enjoyed our work and the opportunities for friendship and will be feeling confident and ready to face the next 60 years!
