Welcome to SI Port Talbot
Our President's Message
Fellow Soroptimists,
I am delighted to write my first message as SI President Port Talbot for the launch of our own Club Website and to start the Celebrations for our 60th Anniversary Year.
I really want to ensure that the year will be reflective, enlightening for all members, and very important .... that we all have a good time.
Soroptimists of Port Talbot are respected in the town for the funds we have raised for worthy causes over the past sixty years together with the service to the Community we provide. However, we still wish to raise our profile and awareness through gaining more publicity and presence in the town.
Also,we do hope to recruit some new younger members along the way.
Our website will give details of what we have achieved over the years... locally, regionally and through international support.
I will be writing progress reports and provide information which may be of interst and use for other clubs.
Last Wednesday, 30th April, our Club was delighted to be the guest of our Mayor and Mayoress at the Civic Centre to celebrate together our 60th Anniversary - it was a lovely social event and appreciated by all the members attending.
Our first event will be on Saturday May 17th, an "At Home" for clubs in our Region to have Afternoon Tea ... club members will be dressing in typical 1948 style, an opportunity to remembers what Soroptimists did sixty years ago!
I am confident we can continue to go from strength to strength and aim to ensure that SI Port Talbot flourishes in Port Talbot for the next sixty years.
