Our President's Message

Thank you for visiting our website.

The Soroptimist International of Nottingham Club is made up of over 50 women from lots of different nationalities, lots of different professions and careers and we are aged from 20's to 90's.

We may all be different but we have one thing in common, WE WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO THE LIVES OF WOMEN AND GIRLS and to 'give something back'.

We have spare time which we want to put to good use and we feel passionately about the projects we take on. This website gives you a flavour of the projects which we undertake.

These projects are local, national and international. Issues we have covered in the past include assisting a local Women's Refuge, raising funds for mine clearance, assisting at a local Child Contact centre, conducting mock interviews at a local school, helping women survivors of war and (with other Women's groups in Nottinghamshire) raising nearly £1 million for a new Breast care centre. They vary from volunteering in our free time to fundraising through to lobbying for change. The philosophy can be summed up by three words

ADVOCACY AWARENESS ACTION

As a service organisation we want members who are committed to ensuring that women and girls both here and abroad enjoy equity and equality, live in a safe and healthy environment, have access to education and have leadership and practical skills.
