Welcome to SI Northwich and District

Our President's Message

I am delighted to welcome you to the web pages of Northwich and district Soroptimists Club. We are a friendly, caring club founded in 1949 and consisting at present of around sixty members with an age range from 25 to 90.

Programme Action is an important part of the Club's activities and at a local level our members are involved with the Child Contact Centre, the MS Society, Talking Newspapers, the Stroke Club and the Women's Refuge plus other projects.

On a wider level we support World Water Aid, World Literacy Day and World Aids Day. Our main fundraiser is an 'Auction of Promises' which this year raised £5,000. This creates many social activities enjoyed enormously by our members. It has also enabled us to financially support Project Independence, Women Survivors of War, our local Hospice, Street children in Sri Lanka through our friendship link, Uganda Childbirth Injuries Fund, and others. We send surgical sutures each year to a hospital in Uganda.

Recently we organised a fashion show which was very popular and also raised over £4,600, donated to International Sight Savers, and the Joshua Tree Trust, a local charity helping families with a child suffering from a serious illness.

But all this aside, we have a lot of fun with various social activities, having an enthusiastic capacity fo enjoy ourselves, but also to care for each other when needed. A remarkable group of women indeed!
