Welcome to SI Loughborough
Our President's Message
Welcome to Soroptimist International of Loughborough. The Club was founded in 1950 and is small and friendly with members active in business, the professions and voluntary sector. We currently have around 24 members within the age range of 37 to 92. Our aims are to give service in the community and to support international projects. We socialise, fundraise for worthy causes and have many interesting speakers on a variety of topics.
We meet once a month, sometimes twice, on Mondays and Wednesdays at John Storer House in Loughborough. At meetings we hear from speakers, discuss the club's activities, and make time for a chat over coffee. We also hold a number of social events during the year, where we can relax and catch up with our friends in the club.
Our theme for this year is 'Education - the International Aspect' and as well as 'Wishes For Kids' we support several local charities; Rainbows Children's Hospice, the Christmas Shelter and Leicester Rape Crisis Centre. We have also donated funds to supply water pumps to villages in Africa and we send money to India to support the education of a young girl. For the past three years our main project has been to raise awareness of the lack of funding for children's hospices and we have the support of Andy Reed, our local MP, in this project.
If you are a working woman or if you are involved in voluntary work you could be eligible to join us. Age is not a barrier. Please click on the 'Contact' tab to e-mail us if you would like more information about club evenings.
