Welcome to SI London Chilterns
Our President's Message
Hello and a warm welcome to SI London Chilterns.
Theme for the Regional Year 2007/8: "Change"
2007/8 will be exciting and challenging with significant changes afoot including the Soroptimist International Strategic Plan, the new Programme Focus 2007-2011 and a new Quadrennial Project in Project SIerra (more below). I am very interested in science - Climate Change is a less welcome change but one we can take action on. Change can be a scary word but it shouldn’t be for Soroptimists – it is our raison d’ętre. We aim to change the lives of women and girls for the better.
About Soroptimist Clubs in the Region:
For those readers who are not Soroptimists I hope your browsing raises your awareness of Soroptimism and may tempt you to join this wonderful organisation. For fellow Soroptimists I hope your browsing provides you with the information you are looking for.
Soroptimist International of London Chilterns covers a wide area in and around London. The Region is currently made up of 14 clubs, with Milton Keynes scheduled to reopen again soon. The 14 are: Aylesbury & District, Bedford, Hertford & District, High Wycombe & District, Lewisham, Central & South West London, Greater London, London Mayfair, Newbury & District, Oxford & District, Reading Wokingham & Bracknell, Slough Windsor & Maidenhead, St Albans & District, and Thames Valley. Many of the clubs have their own web sites under "Clubs", but if not please contact them via "Contact" on this web site.
Regional Meetings:
The clubs meet together four times a year, in December, March, June and October. These meetings are open to any Soroptimist and we are happy to welcome visitors from Soroptimist clubs outside the Region.
Regional Workshops:
The Region also organises workshops during the year to bring club officers together in planning work on key issues. Workshops are planned in early 2008 on Programme Action, Membership and Club Development, with a special one for Soroptimists who will become Club Presidents during the next year. Information about the workshops is publicised through our monthly Diary.
Regional Project: "Project SIerra" - A Family and a Future
Soroptimist International Quadrennial Project for 2007-11 is a partnersip with Hope and Homes for Chidren in Sierra Leone which aims to raise over Ł1 million to transform the lives of some of the most deprived women and chidren in the world.
