SI Llandudno and District Projects
Each Soroptimist International club identifies the needs of its community, then establishes specific projects to address these needs. All our projects relate to one or more of the six Programme Focus Areas: Economic and Social Development, Education, Environment, Health, Human Rights and the Status of Women, and International Goodwill and Understanding.
More information is available in the Our Work pages, where you can read more about the current Programme Focus aims and the Quadrennial Project, supported by all clubs in the Federation.
The projects listed below include some of the local and international issues we research and support in SI Llandudno and District:
Premature Baby Unit
Regularly, we provide knitted garments for the premature baby unit at the local hospital, aid for the local Women’s Refuge.
Updates
Moldavia Gynae Hospital
We are working jointly with our Friendship Link in Belvedere, Vienna and a club in Japan, to provide funds for a women’s hospital in Moldavia.
When members of our friendship link in Vienna came over for our lunch last year, they asked us to join them in this very worthwhile porject.
Sudan Sponsorship
Currently, we help the St. Vincent de Paul Society in Sudan to educate women and children displaced and made homeless by the war in the South of the country.
They are given skills to support themselves. Recently, we paid for a year’s vocational training for ‘Charity’, who has learned embroidery, which will give her an income to keep herself and her children. A recent Pate, Plonk and Pie evening raised enough (£150) to educate a primary school child for a year. For further information, please go to www.svp.org.uk
