Our President's Message

Welcome to SI of Lincoln and District. The Lincoln Club is a thriving group of committed Soroptimists from all walks of life and we welcome new members who are interested in promoting womens interests both locally and internationally.
As President for the year 2007/8 I have chosen Share the Care as my President's Charity and hope during the year to promote this deserving organisation and raise funds to help them in their essential work. The first event of the year is a Coffee Morning on the 9th June at the home of Diana Oldfield 9 Robertson Close, Waddington.This coincides with the start of National Carers Week. At the end of May a group of 12 members of the club will be visiting Pisa, Italy as guests of the club members, The main reason for the visit is to help Pisa celebrate the unveiling of the Madonna and Child Statue whose restoration they have funded.
We have Links with clubs in Zaanstreek Holland, Pisa, Italy, Lincoln, Nebraka and South Aukland, New Zealand.We will endeavour to actively continue with these links during the year, We also support our sister club in Kwe Kwe, Zimbabwe by paying their capitation fees and sending much needed funds. This is funded from special fund raising events during the year. We also support the Chernobyl Children's Charity by taking the children on a summer picnic. Some members have offered to have the children stay with them during their visit. We have over 50 members and plan many exciting social and fund raising events during the year.
I can recommend becoming a Soroptimist to any woman who is interested in advancing women's rights and enjoys the social occasions involved in belonging to our organisation.
