SI Leicester Projects
Each Soroptimist International club identifies the needs of its community, then establishes specific projects to address these needs. All our projects relate to one or more of the six Programme Focus Areas: Economic and Social Development, Education, Environment, Health, Human Rights and the Status of Women, and International Goodwill and Understanding.

Soroptimist Housing(Leicester) Limited
Soroptimist Housing(Leicester)Limited is a small registered housing association which is a registered charity under Industrial and Provident Society legislation.
It was founded in 1956 by members of Soroptimist International of Leicester. Loans from club members and a mortgage from the Co-operative, now the Nationwide Building Society,led to the building of the first block of four flats in 1958.
In 1965, a second mortgage was obtained and the second block of four flats built. All mortgages were rrepaid in 1982.
The Association is managed by a voluntary committee of shareholders who are members of SI Leicester.
The flats in Hamilton Lane, Scraptoft, Leicester provides low cost accommodation for single (unmarried, widowed or divorced) women aged 55 or over. The flats are let on Assured Tenancies, at an economical rent which is inclusive of service charges.
The properties are well maintained and Leicester Quaker Housing Association hasbeen appointed by the management commttee to provide a Repair and Maintenance Service for the flats.

Education for Consolata
Each year club members hold a fundraising lunch to support the education of Consolata and her community through Plan International. Through Plan International we recive regular news and letters from Consolata about her schooling and other projects in her
Education in India
Club members are supporting the education of a young Indian girl called Nikita. Nikita is from a very poor background and for just a small sum we are able to guarantee her continued attendance at school.
