SI Hoylake and West Kirby Projects
Each Soroptimist International club identifies the needs of its community, then establishes specific projects to address these needs. All our projects relate to one or more of the six Programme Focus Areas: Economic and Social Development, Education, Environment, Health, Human Rights and the Status of Women, and International Goodwill and Understanding.
More information is available in the Our Work pages, where you can read more about the current Programme Focus aims and the Quadrennial Project, supported by all clubs in the Federation.
The projects listed below include some of the local and international issues we research and support in SI Hoylake and West Kirby:
St. John's Hospice
This local charity run entirely on donations is a charity we support every year. This year our Sales table in the foyer of Arrowe Park Hospital helped us to raise funds for the Hospice.
Women Survivors of War
Selling tickets for a Marks and Spencer Fashion Show at Chester Town Hall enabled us to support Women Survivors of War.
Women Walking for Women- Women Survivors of War
Members from over 250 clubs and 20 courtries in all four Federations took part. We joined together with other Wirral clubs, and enjoyed a very pleasant country walk. Sponsorship for the walk enabled our club to send £300 to Region, and and it is estimate
Wirral Womens Refuge and the Ark Project.
We are very happy to give on-going support to the Wirral Womens Refuge. At Christmas we make up Christmas boxes for the women in both these locations.
Adopt a Minefield
Some of our members hosted dinners, for which they charged a fee. Others members and friends responded enthusiastically, and we were able to send a significant donation.
World Water Aid
We held a well suported and enjoyable coffee morning to raise funds for this.
Hoylake Cottage Hospital
With this non-NHS supported trust in our area we can see for ourselves what a wonderful asset this Hospital is to the area. It is now being extended, and will cover many more aspects of care for the elderly. Many of our members work in the Hospital in a v
Ockendon Project
We give on-going support to this project by collecting foreign coins, spent computer cartridges and old mobile phones.
