Welcome to SI Bangor and District

Our President's Message

Croeso - Welcome to the S.I. Bangor and District Web site. This is the Clubs 60th year, and is still enjoying a very active and friendly programme. We meet on a Tuesday evening twice a month.
I have chosen the local Womens Refuge as my main charity to support during my year of office, and working to alleviate violence against women.
The new Quadrennial project was launched in 2007,called Project SIerra and in partnership with Hope and Homes aims to provide support for children in Sierra Leone.
The club has been actively involved in supporting a school in Itala, Zambia, through providing funding for the training of a female teacher, purchasing books and liasing with a local school who has been providing substantial support from fundraising and volunteers to build new premises, we are hoping that other clubs in the Region will also get involved.
We also lobby on many issues such as landmine clearance, stop the trafficking of women and children, and other local and international concerns.
As Soroptimist we balance all the serious things with a number of social activities.
As this is our 60th year we are planning some special events, there will be a diamond award for the best Midwifery Student.
