Our President's Message

2007/08 should be a very exciting year for our Club. We have a very full programme of activities planned, including speakers covering diverse topics from trafficking to Young Carers. When we have a speaker we hope that the Club will be able to identify ways in which we can offer support.

We are also working with the Aylesbury Fair Trade Initiative and supporting the work towards securing Fair Trade Town status for Aylesbury. We are particularly looking forward to putting on our dancing shoes at the Presidents' event in August when we are having a Ceilidh at St Mary's Church in the town centre. This is being organised with the Fair Trade Initiative and will help raise funds for Young Carers, the Presidents' charity for the year.

We would like to see the Club supporting national and international projects and linking our activities into SI's key programme areas. One of our charities for the year is Roundabout Play Pumps which helps provide clean water in developing countries. We will be continuing our service to the local community, the backbone of the Club's activities, and will again be providing parties for local children and for adults with learning difficulties. Members will be supporting the Hospice, Women's Aid and the local women’s refuge.

There's a lot to do and we hope to have a very positive year helping the local community and raising some funds to support our chosen charities. Not forgetting of course, the fun and friendship that the Club brings to its members.

One of our main aims for the year is to build an even stronger, more focused Club and to identify what direction the Club is going to take in the coming years. We hope to welcome more new members during the year and to see the Club going from strength to strength.

We would love to hear from anyone who is interested in joining the Club.
